Why We Built This Service
Post Lake Lending, an online personal loan matching service, was founded on a simple premise: finding a personal loan should not be harder than getting one. For too many borrowers, the process involves repeated applications to individual lenders, multiple hard credit inquiries, confusing terminology, and ultimately, terms that weren't made clear until after approval. We set out to fix that experience.
Our platform connects borrowers who need personal loans between $500 and $5,000 with a curated network of licensed lenders who can provide them. The connection happens through a single application form, a soft credit inquiry, and a transparent offer display β all without cost to the borrower and without obligation to accept anything presented.
The name Post Lake Lending reflects our roots in the Northwoods communities of Wisconsin, where we began. The values we associate with that region β directness, reliability, and practical problem-solving β inform how we approach every aspect of our service. We don't over-promise. We show you what's available for your situation and let you decide.
We've served more than 32,000 borrowers through our matching platform. Some found the exact loan they needed on their first search. Others learned that their current financial profile limited their options and used that information to take actionable steps before reapplying. Both outcomes represent the service working correctly: honest information, delivered efficiently, without wasted time or credit score damage.
Our Core Values
Transparency First
We disclose our role as a matching service, not a lender, on every page of this website. We require our lender partners to present complete fee and rate information before any borrower commits. There are no hidden relationships or undisclosed incentive structures.
Fair Access
We believe borrowers across the income and credit spectrum deserve fast funding access and transparent terms β including those with bad credit, fair credit, or thin files β deserve access to transparent lending options. Our network includes lenders who serve fair, good, and excellent credit profiles β not exclusively prime borrowers.
Borrower Protection
We vet every lender partner for proper state licensing, clear fee disclosure, and complaint history before admitting them to our network. We remove partners who receive consistent borrower complaints that aren't resolved appropriately.
Financial Education
Our resource library publishes practical guides on APR, credit management, debt consolidation strategy, and repayment planning. We believe an informed borrower makes better decisions β which is good for everyone in the ecosystem.
Data Responsibility
Borrower data is shared only with lenders whose criteria match the application profile. We do not sell data to marketers, data brokers, or aggregators. Our data practices are documented fully in our Privacy Policy.
Honest Communication
If our network can't serve a borrower's situation, we say so clearly. We don't redirect to unsuitable products or manipulate offer presentation to increase conversion at a borrower's expense.
What We Are β and What We're Not
We think it's important to be unambiguous about our role, because confusion about this costs borrowers time and sometimes money.
| We Are | We Are Not |
|---|---|
| β A loan matching and referral service | β A direct lender or loan originator |
| β A platform that shows multiple offers | β A party to any loan agreement |
| β Compensated by lenders for successful matches | β A fee-charging service for borrowers |
| β A soft-inquiry-only initial platform | β A credit reporting agency or bureau |
| β A resource for loan education and comparison | β A financial advisor or credit counselor |
Loan decisions, fund disbursement, repayment collection, and all post-approval activity are handled exclusively by the individual lender you choose. Post Lake Lending's involvement ends once you select an offer and transition to the lender's application portal.
How We Select Lender Partners
Not every lender that wants to participate in our network is admitted. Our screening process evaluates prospective partners across several dimensions before they appear in offer results.
State Licensing Verification
Every lender must hold appropriate state lending licenses for every state in which they offer loans through our platform. We verify licensing records through state regulatory databases and conduct periodic re-checks to identify licenses that have lapsed or been revoked.
Fee Disclosure Requirements
Lender partners must agree to present the full APR β including all mandatory fees β to borrowers before acceptance. Presenting a base interest rate without fee inclusion is not permitted in our network. We audit offer displays regularly to confirm compliance.
Complaint and Resolution Review
Before admission, we review each prospective lender's public complaint record with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and relevant state agencies. We also conduct ongoing monitoring and require lenders to notify us of regulatory actions within 30 days of occurrence. Lenders with unresolved patterns of borrower harm are removed from our network.
Terms Reasonableness Review
We review interest rate ranges, fee structures, and repayment terms for general reasonableness relative to market standards. We do not set maximum APR caps β individual state laws govern that β but we monitor for outlier practices that fall outside what we consider consistent with fair dealing.

How We Produce and Review Our Content
Post Lake Lending publishes financial guidance that borrowers rely on for real decisions. That responsibility requires clear editorial standards, not just good intentions.
Accuracy and Sourcing
All factual claims in our published guides are reviewed against primary sources including federal regulatory documents, CFPB publications, and state lending statutes. Rate ranges and loan term information are validated against current network lender data before publication. Articles are reviewed by at least one team member with direct industry experience before going live.
Independence from Lender Partners
Lender partners in our network do not review, approve, or influence our editorial content. Guides and comparisons are produced independently. Lenders are not informed of content that discusses them, positively or negatively, before publication. Our revenue model β compensation from lenders on funded referrals β does not extend to editorial coverage.
Updates and Corrections
Financial information changes. Regulatory changes, rate environment shifts, and lender policy updates require periodic content revision. Our team reviews high-traffic pages quarterly. If a factual error is identified by a reader, we investigate within 5 business days and publish a correction if warranted. Corrections are noted in the article with the correction date.
Disclosure
Post Lake Lending discloses its role as a compensated referral service on all relevant pages. We believe that informed borrowers β who understand how matching services generate revenue β are better equipped to evaluate the guidance they receive. This transparency is a deliberate choice, not a regulatory afterthought.
